The story
We wanted software that automates the tedious parts without hiding the decisions.
GlacialBooks was born from a frustration with bookkeeping tools that either do too much magic or too little, the kind that categorize without reasoning, reconcile without traceability, and generate reports that read like black boxes.
We wanted software that automates the tedious parts of the work, like categorization, reconciliation, and report generation, while keeping every decision transparent and reversible. Connect your accounts and by the next morning every transaction is categorized, reconciled, and pinned to a clean P&L, which is the whole point of building this in the first place.
GlacialBooks is built and owned by Fluent Terrain LLC and delivered through the FinArctic product family. We serve everyone from freelancers managing their first invoices to organizations with complex multi-entity accounting and job-costing requirements.
We're not trying to replace your accountant, we're trying to give both of you clean, auditable books that you can actually trust without having to verify them by hand.
Meet Arko
Arctic · Ledger · Keeper · Of Numbers.
Arko is a mid-life polar bear, somewhere between cub and elder, and he sits at the laptop while you sleep so your books can reconcile themselves overnight. He has seen receipts crumple, founders panic, and IRS letters arrive on Sundays, and none of it phases him.
Think of him as the polar bear equivalent of the world's best junior accountant: friendly without being goofy, calm without being sycophantic, precise and unflappable with enough light dry humor to make the work feel survivable. He doesn't apologize for the IRS, he doesn't panic about deadlines, and he's never going to tell you he's so excited to help.
His voice is closer to, “Found it, here's what we do.”

Numbers belong in the body of the sentence rather than buried in jargon, so we write in plain words with exact figures, and if you can't repeat back what we said to a friend then we wrote it wrong.
Cool under pressure
Tax deadlines, audits, and payroll mistakes are situations rather than catastrophes, so we tell you what is true, what is fixable, and what happens next, and we let the calm itself be the thing we deliver.
Glacially accurate
Glaciers move only 30 centimeters a day and still reshape continents, which is the trade we make: we give up flashy speed for unshakable precision, and we close every reconciliation to zero.
Approachable summit
Bookkeeping has been a gatekept profession for too long, and our customers are roofers, salon owners, e-commerce founders, and freelance dentists, so we meet people where they stand and walk them up rather than expecting them to climb on their own.
No shame, no judgment
If you are fourteen months behind on books, have personal and business cards mixed together, or have filed extensions three years running, none of that surprises us, and we start where you are rather than where the textbook says you should be.
Funny, never frivolous
Money is serious but money advice doesn't have to be dry, so a polar bear named Arko is allowed and a laugh in the onboarding email is allowed, while a typo in the tax filing is not.
